| Governing law and regulator | Belgium applies EU medicines law through its national medicines law. The Federaal Agentschap voor Geneesmiddelen en Gezondheidsproducten (FAGG), also known as AFMPS, is the competent authority for licensing, market surveillance and enforcement of human medicines, including online sales. |

What a buyer in Belgium needs settled
- Hold a groothandelsvergunning (Wholesale Distribution Authorisation, WDA) from FAGG; importing from outside the EU also needs a manufacturing/import authorisation.
- Assume GLP-1 compounds and somatropin is prescription-only; FAGG states these can only be dispensed through a licensed pharmacy, never sold online directly to consumers.
- Assume a research-use label carries no special protection; FAGG's PharmaWatch enforcement targets sellers of unlicensed medicines regardless of marketing language.
- Expect proactive enforcement; FAGG and FOD Economie run joint sweeps that have already removed dozens of illegal medicine websites and referred cases to prosecutors.
