Evidence and status

Approval statusNot approved by injection. FDA has approved no injectable product for skin whitening or lightening, and describes injectable skin-lightening products as unapproved and untested. On 1 February 2019 it warned compounders not to use a specific glutathione L-reduced powder to compound sterile injectables
European statusNo European authorisation for the injectable use identified in this review
Strongest supportHuman reports, largely of harm by the injectable route
Route contextOral, topical and intravenous in the literature. Every FDA warning identified here attaches to the injectable route
Competitive sportNot established here. It is an endogenous tripeptide also sold as a food supplement. Verify with the relevant anti-doping organisation

Research

What the published literature examined

The regulatory record is more specific than the clinical one, and it names a real episode. FDA warned compounders on 1 February 2019 not to use a named glutathione L-reduced powder for sterile injectables after reports concerning seven people who received a drug compounded with L-glutathione and experienced adverse events attributed to potentially high endotoxin levels. FDA has separately and repeatedly told compounders not to use dietary-supplement grade glutathione for injectables, because material labelled for supplement use may carry impurities and contaminants including endotoxins. A narrative review of the skin-lightening literature records anaphylaxis and hepatotoxicity associated with the intravenous route, alongside the absence of any standardised dosing protocol.

What is not established

An approved injectable, a standardised dose, and any established basis for the use it is most sold for. FDA has approved no injectable product for skin whitening or lightening. The reported harms by that route include serious allergic reactions and liver injury, and the reviews note there is no dosing standard to depart from in the first place.

What distinguishes Glutathione

Seven people, one named powder, one dated warning. This is the compound where the failure mode a documented supply chain is built against has actually been published, with a date and a count, by a regulator: supplement-grade material used to make an injectable, and endotoxin harming the people who received it. Every claim this business makes about batch certificates, endotoxin panels and grade is abstract until a buyer reads this page.

Specification

About this compound

The specification below is the batch-independent data. Purity and analysis date vary by batch, so they appear on the certificate issued with your order rather than on this page.

What this compound is

Glutathione in supply terms

Glutathione, also listed as GSH or reduced glutathione, is a naturally occurring tripeptide built from three amino acids: glutamate, cysteine and glycine, joined as gamma-L-glutamyl-L-cysteinyl-glycine. The gamma-linkage between glutamate and cysteine is atypical of standard peptide bonds, which normally form through the alpha-carboxyl group, and this structural feature is part of what distinguishes glutathione from a conventional tripeptide chain. The molecular formula is C10H17N3O6S, with a molecular weight near 307.32 g/mol, and it is registered under CAS 70-18-8. It is classed as an antioxidant tripeptide on this catalogue, a chemical classification based on the reactive thiol group carried by the cysteine residue, and it is one of the smaller molecules by weight in the Beauty category grouping. Unlike most peptides on this list it is freely soluble in water, though it still reconstitutes with bacteriostatic water or sterile laboratory-grade water by standard practice. It ships as a lyophilised powder in multi-dose vials at a 600mg fill weight, substantially larger than the milligram fills typical of synthetic research peptides, reflecting glutathione's lower per-milligram synthesis cost. Store at 2-8C, away from direct light, with freezing recommended for extended storage. Each order includes a Certificate of Analysis confirming purity by HPLC.

Questions

Supply, answered

Is Glutathione available for private label?

Yes. It can be supplied under your own brand on the vial and the carton, with the Certificate of Analysis issued under your product name.

What is the minimum order quantity?

Set for this compound specifically and confirmed at the enquiry stage, before you commit.

What purity is supplied?

98 percent or higher, verified by HPLC. The certificate issued with your batch carries the actual figure for that batch.

How is it shipped?

As lyophilised powder in multi-dose vials, packed for transit. Delivery in 5 to 7 days once the batch is released.

We already buy Glutathione. Can you quote against our current volume?

Yes. Send the volume and the delivery country. Pricing is tiered per compound, so the quote reflects what you buy rather than a list price.

Can you supply Glutathione as a second source?

Yes. Terms are agreed per compound, so you can add Glutathione without moving anything else you buy elsewhere.
